Best and Brightest 2012-2013

6/10/2013

Last week, the elementary school counselors in my district organized a "Best and Brightest" event where each of us shared our favorite individual, small group, classroom, and school-wide counseling strategies from the 2012-2013 school year. Needless to say, it was AMAZING! We typed up our notes for our records and provided each other with hard copies and electronic copies of our resources. I highly encourage this event!

Due to the success of my own district's "Best and Brightest," I thought I'd host the same event with all of you! This time, I picked my 10 favorite tools from this year (not including my ultimate favorite, Tim...that's for another blog post!). Enjoy!

I am putting my post together now. I really have to think about what I am most proud of this year. I'll be adding my link by the end of the week!

Thanks for this. It's good to stop and reflect at the end of the year. I hope a lot of people join this. I can't wait to read everyone's ideas. . .and get some more to try next year.

Yay! I'm excited to hear what you have to say!

You're welcome. I love sharing ideas and now that school is out, I have some time to sort through all of the stuff I've done this year and make a good plan for 2013-2014. :)

Such a great idea! I miss the fellowship I had with the counselors during my internship. We shared cool things all the time.

Awesome and so helpful! Heading to amazon.com now. I will not make the conference this year due to my sorority's centennial in DC, but next year I plan to make it. I love love begging connecting to selfless, helpful, passionate PSCs. Thanks for all of your amazing ideas. Also? How can I do a podcast for PD for the staff.

Thank you, Rekeshia!

As for the podcast, I use Windows Movie Maker, but any video editing software will do. I use a Sony Bloggie camera, but again, you can pick something more or less expensive based on your needs.

Great post! For the short films, did you let the students know ahead of time that they were scheduled to visit you or was it sort of surprise you get to come down to my office today as long as you are on green?

Thank you! :)

I had a list posted by their classroom, so they knew when their scheduled day was. However, they still needed to behave, even if it wasn't their day, so they could be picked by someone else.
