Where, oh where could I be? Well, as you may have guessed, I had a baby at the beginning of the month, which has been a wonderful and overwhelming experience. That would be why I've been M.I.A. the past few weeks. I foolishly believed that maternity leave would be easy and therefore, blogging would be easy too. Babies sleep a lot, right? Plus, I have a break from all of the school responsibilities. I've quickly learned that babies don't like schedules. Babies like to be held, so it's almost impossible to do anything that requires independent hand movement (i.e. blogging). Babies like to sleep a few hours at a time, so even when they ARE sleeping, you (most likely) are too. I'll do my best to keep on top of things. In the meantime, I have a baby to snuggle with. :) |

Thank you, Vanessa! And no, I won't be there. I'm pretty bummed, but at least I'm missing out for a good reason. :) Hopefully I'll be there next year!

Congratulations! Give it time...you will eventually figure out how to do everything one-handed (and even multi-task at the same time!) while holding baby. But please, just enjoy this precious time...we can wait for you to return to the blogging world as you have more important things to focus on right now. Enjoy!

First of all, Congratulations! You deserve a break from your blog to be with your baby - the MOST important part of your life! Secondly, I am a brand-new elementary counselor (previously middle school and high school), but a mom of two (16 months, and 4 years) - so I know a lot more about motherhood than elementary counseling. I love your site (you've been handy in my research as I try to get the hang of the elementary piece) and you've done a fabulous job. With that said, I think your main focus should absolutely be your new role as a mom! Embrace it, enjoy it and take it one day at a time! It goes too quickly and is a blur (especially when you're not sleeping) so just focus on the special moments that occur all of the time and let the rest of life just happen!

Sorry, Andrea! It's been hit or miss when it comes to available computer time. Still working on getting a good schedule going. :)

Congratulations on your new baby! I came across your website as part of an online course assignment on peer mentoring/counseling models. Thank you for what you have put together on the elementaryschoolcounseling.org website. It is tremendous and must have taken countless hours, days and months. Thank you for sharing it with fellow school counselors.
