To highlight the importance of treating one another with respect.
We scheduled our RAK Week in March, a month when we typically see the highest number of behavior referrals. This provides students and staff with a positive outlet.
In addition to daily messages on the morning announcements, we have a RAK video (staff showing RAK), classroom lessons, message from Tim, and a postcard exchange.
Message from Tim
One of the most meaningful and memorable parts of Random Acts of Kindness Week is our postcard exchange. Students are paired with other students from their grade (students in different homerooms) and must write what they like about that person. I've included some student samples. Click on the pictures for easier viewing.
2014 RAK Week
Schedule of Events
My intern, Bailey Parks, created these lessons for our students. We made the lessons optional since we missed so many days of school due to snow days and didn't want to overwhelm our teachers. However, the majority of teachers scheduled with us anyway. :)
I didn't end up having time to do the next activities, but I plan on using them next year. I wanted to have yummy snacks and treats for the staff throughout the week, so these posters help explain what each day's treat will be.
